Connect your GA4 property

Connecting takes about two minutes. You sign in with Google, grant read-only access, and pick which property you want to view.

Before you start#

You need two things:

  • A Google account that has at least Viewer access to a GA4 property. If you can see data in GA4, you have the right permissions.
  • A GA4 property (not a Universal Analytics property). GA4 property IDs look like 123456789. If you're not sure which type you have, check Google's guide to finding your property type.

Connect your property#

Sign in with Google

Go to the login page and click Sign in with Google. Use the Google account that has access to your GA4 property.

If you use multiple Google accounts, make sure you select the right one. The account must have permissions on the GA4 property you want to connect.

Grant read-only permissions

Google will ask you to approve permissions for Calm Analytics. We request read-only access to your Google Analytics data. This means we can view your reports and metrics, but we cannot change your GA4 settings, modify tracking, or delete anything.

Click Allow to continue.

Select your property

After signing in, open the property selector in the dashboard sidebar. You will see a list of every GA4 property your Google account can access.

Click the property you want to view. Your data will begin loading immediately, and the Overview dashboard appears first.

What happens with your data#

Once connected, here is what Calm Analytics does with your information:

  • Google tokens are encrypted and stored securely. They are never exposed in the browser.
  • Analytics data is cached temporarily to keep dashboards fast and reduce API calls. Cached data refreshes periodically.
  • Nothing is shared with third parties. Your data is yours.

You can disconnect your property at any time from Settings. Disconnecting removes all cached data and revokes the stored tokens.

Free tier limits

The free plan supports 1 GA4 property and up to 30 days of historical data. If you need multiple properties or longer date ranges, check out the Starter plan.

Troubleshooting#

I don't see my property in the selector

This usually means the Google account you signed in with does not have access to that GA4 property. Here is how to check:

  1. Open Google Analytics directly and confirm you can see the property there.
  2. Make sure you are looking at a GA4 property, not a Universal Analytics property. Calm Analytics does not support Universal Analytics.
  3. If the property belongs to a different Google account, sign out and sign in again with the correct account.

I signed in but the dashboard is empty

Give it a moment. The first data load can take 10-15 seconds while we pull your GA4 data. If the dashboard is still empty after 30 seconds, try refreshing the page.

If you still see no data, the GA4 property may not have any traffic data yet. Check that your GA4 tracking code is installed and collecting data by visiting your site and checking GA4's Real-Time report.

I want to switch to a different Google account

Sign out from Calm Analytics in Settings, then sign in again with the other Google account.
